The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest grade woods. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads and a beautiful finish.     The Chessmen are new and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens, a standard that was introduced by The House of Staunton over 10 years ago.

     

    THE CHESSBOARD

     

    The Wooden Tournament Mahogany / Maple Chessboard with 2.25" Squares features Mahogany (dark) and Maple (light) squares with a Mahogany frame. This veneered Chessboard is 0.5" thick and has a satin finish with the House of Staunton logo silkscreened on the H1 square.

     

    THE CHESSBOX

     

    The Classic Slide Top Box is lined in green velour, divided and is ideal for a full tournament-sized set of Chessmen.

    1. Amazing quality and set, but some drawbacks

      When I ordered this set, I ordered the Purple Heart gilded pieces as my darker pieces. When they showed up in the mail they were a lighter purple color that didn’t match the dark deep brownish purple that they had advertised in the photos. That is my only complaint, in every other aspect, the set is amazing and has nothing to criticize.
