Expertly handcrafted in the USA, The House of Staunton is proud to offer this prototype signature chessboard for your consideration.

Meticulously constructed from individual 2.5" Bloodwood (dark) and Curly Maple (light) square blocks, the playing surface is a striking mosaic of natural beauty. The playing surface is just shy of 0.5" thick, while the whole board height measures in at 1.5". It has a 24.25" x 24.25" overall footprint.

The board's frame is a work of art in itself, showcasing a sophisticated stacked lamination of warm Cherry and bright Curly Maple. A rich Peruvian Walnut delimiter elegantly separates the playing surface from the frame, adding a touch of refined contrast. The corners are further elevated with Birdseye Maple inlays, providing a subtle yet captivating detail that completes this luxurious design.

A unique and durable design feature, the playing surface is securely held within the board by threaded inserts, carefully glued into the backside and screwed into a robust MDF substrate. This innovative construction ensures stability and longevity, allowing for generations of engaging play.

This prototype chessboard seamlessly blends traditional woodworking techniques with modern design elements, making it a unique and captivating addition to any home.
