A full tournament-sized Chess set, it features a 3.75" King with a 1.5" diameter base. The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest grade woods. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads and a beautiful finish. As with all of our Chess sets, the Club Series Chessmen exemplifies a perfect combination of distinct beauty and functionality. It has been designed to withstand the rigors of practical play while maintaining an elegance which has become the hallmark of a House of Staunton chess set. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is UNMATCHED by any set of Chessmen in its price range. Nothing even comes close! The Chessmen are new and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens, a standard that was introduced by The House of Staunton over 10 years ago.

THE CHESSBOARD

The Wooden Tournament Mahogany / Maple Chessboard with 2.0" Squares features Mahogany (dark) and Maple (light) squares with a Mahogany frame. This veneered Chessboard is 0.5" thick and has a satin finish.

The Slide Top Box is lined in green velour, divided and is ideal for a full tournament-sized set of Chessmen.

    Club Chess Set

    The Club chess set is great quality. However, I previously had the Grandmaster chess set an I didn't realize that the squares and pieces in the Club set were smaller. Also, the color of the golden rosewood pieces is much lighter than it appeared in the photos. I wish I had gotten the gilded rosewood pieces, which I would have done had I known the actual color of the pieces. So, a little disappointed, but not really any fault of House of Staunton's. I would replace, but shipping is too expensive

    Wonderful

    This set is everything I hoped for. The delivery was very quick considering I live in Israel. The board is wonderful, and you can see the careful work on every piece. One of the queens had a slight defect on the top, but I only noticed that cause I was inspecting every piece so carefully, and its very hard to spot it if you dont know its there. I played one game with the set and felt amazing. There was also a code for one month of diamond memebership on chess.com , which was a pleasant surprise since I play alot there. If youre looking for a professional set, cant go wrong with this one. Will definitely buy my next sets from here!
