The House of Staunton is proud to offer the Capablanca Series Chess set. A full tournament-sized Chess set, it features a 4.0" King with a 1.875" diameter base. The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest grade woods. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with gold embossed English Leather base pads under the Kings, luxurious billiard cloth base pads on the other Chess pieces and a beautiful finish. The design of the Capablanca Series Chess set captures the exquisite design and proportions of the Staunton Chess Sets produced during the 1920s, which is widely regarded as the Golden Age of Chess The distinctive features of this set are its slender, elegant form and its superbly carved Knight design. The Capablanca Series Chess set is ideal for those that are interested in an heirloom quality Chess set that follows classical Staunton proportions, but at the same time has a very elegant and distinctive appearance.

The Chessmen are new and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens, a standard that was introduced by The House of Staunton over 10 years ago.
The Chess Set comes with an Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer's plaque indicating the production number, with an adhesive backing that would allow it to be affixed to the underside of a Chess box.
THE CHESSBOARD
The Superior Traditional Elm Burl / Bird's Eye Maple wooden Chessboard with 2.5" Squares features Elm Burl (dark) and Bird's Eye Maple (light) squares with a Elm Burl frame. This veneered Chessboard is 0.5" thick, has a satin finish and a beautiful moulded edge.
THE CHESSBOX
The Fitted Coffer provides the highest level of protection for your chessmen. Unlike traditional chess boxes, where the chess pieces are stacked on top of each other while not in use, the Fitted Coffer provides each of the chess pieces their own individual storage compartment. It features brass quadrant hinges, a removable top tray and a lock and key with tassel. The House of Staunton Logo has been laser engraved in the lid. This item can also be personalized for gift giving.
