Crafted in Spain, the House of Staunton Superior Traditional Elm Burl / Bird's Eye Maple wooden Chessboard features Elm Burl (dark) and Bird's Eye Maple (light) squares with a Elm Burl frame. This veneered Chessboard is 0.5" thick, has a satin finish and a beautiful moulded edge.

    A great versatile board

    I have a couple of sizes of this board. Small and large. I like the rich appearance and matte finish on these boards. The wood veneers and colors give this board great versatility in looking great with a very wide variety of chessmen. Highly recommended!

    Very nice board!

    What a beautiful board, I especially like the dark contrast of the border. One caveat though, the board I received was darker than what is pictured here.

    One Beautiful Chess Board

    Board is gorgeous - looks even better than the (accurate - but not as reddish) photos here. What I like best about it is how well it will go with so many of my Chessmen. I will be playing on this Board a lot in the Future.
