The design of the Morphy Chess set is a reintroduction of a design produced by the legendary Jaques of London firm between 1850 and 1851. The form, board presence and exquisite craftsmanship of these magnificent chessmen have been recaptured and are offered to you. The chess set is massive in its proportions and is far superior to any production Staunton pattern chess set available today at ANY PRICE! Imperfect consists of items that are deemed below the House of Staunton's already high quality standards.  Because these products do not meet or exceed our inspection standards, we are able to pass enormous savings to you!

 

The inspection for this set details the following:

  • The Genuine Ebony Queen has a mark on the base (As seen in photographs).
  • The Genuine Ebony Rook has a scuff on the base (As seen in photographs).
  • The Genuine Ebony Knight has a dent on the midsection (As seen in photographs).
  • The Genuine Ebony Pawn has a dent on the base (As seen in photographs).
  • The other Genuine Ebony Pawn has scuffs on the base (As seen in photographs).
  • The Natural Boxwood King has a tool mark on the midsection (As seen in photographs).
  • The Natural Boxwood Queens have tool marks on the base in midsection (As seen in photographs).
  • The Natural Boxwood Bishop has a glue mark on the base (As seen in photographs).
  • The Natural Boxwood Rooks have minor dents on the bases (As seen in photographs).
  • The Natural Boxwood Knight has a discoloration on the base (As seen in photographs).
  • Two of the Natural Boxwood Pawns have dents on the base (As seen in photographs).
  • Three of the other Natural Boxwood Pawns have tool marks or glue buildup on the base (As seen in photographs).
  • Some of the pieces could have very minor chips and/or dings/dents or minor imperfections (cosmetic blemishes) in the wood.
