    Product Description

The House of Staunton is proud to offer The Canterbury Artisan Series Chessmen. These Chessmen feature a 4.4" King with a 2.0" Diameter base and are very heavily weighted.

The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest grade woods. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with House of Staunton English Leather basepads on the King and luxurious billiard cloth base pads on the other Chess pieces, with a beautiful finish. As with all of our Chess sets, the Canterbury Series exemplifies a perfect combination of distinct beauty and functionality. It has been designed to withstand the rigors of practical play while maintaining an elegance which has become the hallmark of a House of Staunton chess set. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is UNMATCHED by any set of Chessmen in its price range. Nothing even comes close!

The Chessmen are new and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens, a standard that was introduced by The House of Staunton in 1993.

The Chess Set comes with a Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer's plaque indicating the production number, with an adhesivebacking that would allow it to be affixed to the underside of a Chess box.

    Customer Reviews
    1. A beautiful set of pieces at a reduced price.
I had always wanted a fine set of HOS chessmen, and a short time before the holiday season I finally asked myself what I was waiting for. As soon as I saw this set I fell in love with it. The graceful curves of the King and Queen, the finely carved Knights, the broad sturdy bases and all the pieces nicely weighted. I was not quite prepared for how large they are, and the king and queen barely fit in the 2.25 inch squares of my current board, so I have ordered a 2.75 inch board to do them justice. I also got the fitted coffer to protect them when not in use, and a bag for my board. This set gets 5 stars from me.
