It has been fourteen years since the fourth number of this series. With this, the fifth number, that series is continued. Our lead article in this issue traces Lasker's first steps in the New World, at least for the first two months of his stay while in the United States. More could be done, even for his brief period during October and November 1892, especially concerning Lasker's brief excursion to Montreal near the end of November. Laskers first game in the United States include his 24-game series of eight three-game matches at the Manhattan Chess Club.
