Nimzovich the Hypermodern is based on years of research and careful study of Nimzovich's games. Reinfeld has frankly aimed at a popular work by avoiding over-long games and too detailed notes. In consequence, he has produced a work which enables every chess player to relish Nimzovich's subtle, original play

California Chess Journal - Volume 7-10 1993 - 1996
This is essentially a book on chess history, showing how different styles of chess play became popular and flourished and then faded in popularity, such as for example the Hyper-Modern Style of play that became ''All the Rage'' in the 1920s and 1930s.

The Development of Chess Style
This book is a good read. Even without playing over the games, readers will find it enjoyable.

Great Chess Upsets
Samuel Reshevsky is the ideal person to write a book on positional play because that was exactly the way he played: positionally. Reshevsky preferred to crush his opponents slowly, like a python, rather than to win with a blaze of tactics.

The Art of Positional Play in Chess
A Short-Cut Guide to the Royal Game Lavishly Illustrated
IN THIS remarkable book, a great master and a great teacher have collaborated to produce what is probably the clearest and simplest guide to the game ever written. Containing more than 300 diagrams, Learn Chess Fast!

Lines with P-KB4
There are two Sicilian lines where White plays an early P-KB4; 1 P-K4 P-QB4 2 P-KB4 which is probably inferior to the system popularised by the Dutch player Vinken - 1 P-K4 P-QB4 2 N-QB3 and 3 P-KB4. This latter system occupies most of this book. The author demonstrates the Vinken System to be a viable alternative for White in which the first player strives for a King-side attack which can so easily come off.
