20th Anniversary Edition
The 20th Anniversary Edition and international bestseller! In 1998, the authors set out to demonstrate the viability of the Accelerated Dragon as a weapon for Black, not fearing the Maroczy Bind or any other set-up White can come up with. This book contains all the original material of the first edition with some additional main games as well a couple of entirely new segments.

Sharpen Your Tactical Ability Daily on Your Way to Mastery
An essential part of improving at chess is tactics. Tactics occur at every level of chess but once the players become stronger the elements involved in spotting the puzzles tend to become more complex and deeper, whereas, among weaker players, elementary skewers, forks, and deadly pins are more frequent visitors. In this volume, you will find 404 tactical puzzles at all levels of difficulty, from mundane to industrial strength. Each puzzle features an indication of the level of difficulty, as well as a hint for those who need it
Daily Chess Training: Chess Tactics - Volume 1
A Complete Guide to Self Improvement at Chess
Many players are serious about their chess but become stuck at a certain playing strength. Usually they get left behind because they don’t know how to make best use of the time they have available to study chess. This book addresses this problem and is your self-improvement plan. It shows you how to work on your own games to root out mistakes. It will sharpen your calculation of variations. You will be challenged to find the best middlegame strategy.
In this book the highly experienced chess author and coach Cyrus Lakdawala goes back to basics, outlining an aggressive repertoire for White based on 1 d4, following up with the traditional 2 c4. The emphasis of the repertoire is to gain space as quickly as possible and set Black the task of finding quick counterplay or face the risk of being overrun. Lakdawala recommends lines with f2-f3 against the Nimzo-Indian, the Petrosian System against the King’s Indian and the Flick Knife (f4 with Bb5+) against the Benoni.
Opening Repertoire - 1 d4 with 2 c4
Opening Repertoire: The Petroff Defence examines all aspects of this highly complex opening and provides the reader with well-researched, fresh, and innovative analysis. Each annotated game has valuable lessons on how to play the opening and contains instructive commentary on typical middlegame plans. The suggested lines for Black are based around the very latest games and analysis.

With this book I have sought to provide a training guide that will be helpful mostly to players in the 1500–2200 range corresponding to a lower club level up to those with aspirations for a FIDE title. Of course, the book may well also be useful for players weaker than 1500, or for those stronger than 2200, but this is a decision these players should make for themselves!

Kings of the Chessboard
The World Chess Championship was organized by FIDE in 1948 after all the leading contenders or claimants for the world title died during or immediately after World War II. The Hague and Moscow saw the first tournament to decide the World Chess Championship. Botvinnik, Keres and Smyslov of the USSR, Euwe of Holland, Reshevsky of the USA, the great masters of the day, played lively, imaginative and highly distinctive games in this historical event. Harry Golombek, personally acquainted with all of the contestants and an opponent of most of them, studied the tournament games closely. He gives all the games with thorough and complete annotations, biographies of the players and a discussion of the theoretical values of the openings used.

In this, his first book for Thinkers Publisher, Evgeny investigates, in his inimitable style, the current modern approach to chess. Players sometimes blindly follow rules, restricting themselves to what they have learned without even considering successfully "breaking" the rules. Such stereotypical thinking is a trap which chess players should try to avoid, and in this book, Evgeny makes a strong case for creative thinking and ways to leave the well-trodden paths and confuse the opponent with a fresh approach. Grandmaster Bareev may surprise you with this groundbreaking subject, we promise you it will be a pleasant surprise!
Say No to Chess Principles!
This volume completes the coverage of the Modern English with a repertoire against 1...c5, 1...Nf6, and 1...e6. It is based on active fight for the centre by e3 and d4. It is written from White's point of view, but it should also serve Black players since the authors often discuss several alternatives to the main lines.
