For the discerning Chess player, one that demands the highest quality and as close to perfection as can be achieved by human hands, The House of Staunton has created the Supreme Collector Series Luxury Chess set. This club-sized Chess set features a 4.4" King with a 2.0" diameter base and is crafted out of the highest grade Boxwood and Genuine Ebony. This set comes with 2 different styles of Knights - The Classical Collector Knight and the Imperial Collector Knight, for a total of 38 Chess pieces. They are hand carved and hand turned by our master artisans to the highest quality standards ever seen in a Chess set. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is UNMATCHED by any set of Chessmen in any price range. Nothing even comes close!

The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with green embossed English Leather base pads under the Kings. The Supreme Collector Series Luxury Chess set has been crafted to replicate the design and proportions of the original Staunton pattern Chessmen, registered by Nathaniel Cooke in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849. The distinctive feature of this set is the the open-mitered Bishop and Knight design, which is modeled after the noble steeds from the Greek Parthenon (Elgin Marbles.)

As with all of our Chessmen, the Supreme Collector Series Luxury Chess set exemplifies a perfect combination of distinct beauty and functionality. It has been designed to withstand the rigors of practical play while maintaining an elegance which has become the hallmark of a House of Staunton chess set.

The Chess Set comes with a Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer's plaque indicating the production number, with an adhesive backing that would allow it to be affixed to the underside of a Chess box. This exquisite chess set also includes a free fitted coffer with your purchase.

This was a major purchase, but I have never had the pleasure to play with chess pieces as fine as these. They are beautiful and a pleasure to use. I am a big fan of the clean Staunton style but also fully appreciate the extra detail put into the Knights, right down to their teeth! I love the fact that there is a second set of Knights in an alternate style included; for fun you can set up with one of each kind.
