A fine set for the price

I wanted a decent but affordable Staunton set and this set hit the mark, being a reasonable compromise between quality and price. Although the design of the knights is slightly cruder than some of the more expensive sets, they are still finely crafted and full of character. Overall, the set is nicely balanced and is aesthetically pleasing. The kings' bases are just over 1.6", not 1.4", as stated in the listing, I guessed this was the case by studying the photos, and I'm pleased this was the case, as the pieces are very stable (nicely weighted too). The pieces actually look better than the ones in the photos - smoother, and with a slightly more glossy finish. The set was very well and safely packed and arrived in 4 days (in the UK).
