Product Description

The popularity of the French Defense has surged to the point where it rivals the Sicilian and the Spanish in the chess international tournament arenas. Always known for its solid character, the French offers Black excellent winning chances in the main lines of the Winawer and in many side variations. But what of the Tarrasch Variation, 3. Nd2. Here the play often takes a quiet or positional character.

The Argentine Chess Champion Carlos Guimard has developed a system based on an early 3. … Nc6 by Black, due to the cramped forecourt of the white pieces and with the plan of an early e5 or f6. This leads to exciting play. This is the only book devoted entirely to this important system.
