The House of Staunton is proud to offer the Royale Series Chess set. A full tournament-sized Chess set, it features a 4.0" King with a 1.5"diameter base. The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest grade woods. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads and a beautiful finish.

As with all of our Chess sets, the Royale Series Chessmen exemplifies a perfect combination of distinct beauty and functionality. It has been designed to withstand the rigors of practical play while maintaining an elegance which has become the hallmark of a House of Staunton chess set. Pretty set, knights could be better March 10, 2012

The good: a nice, playable, and attractive design at a great price point.  All the pieces, except the knight, are just lovely, much prettier than similar styles.  Small complaints: The dark knights are clumsily carved.  (Perhaps you have to pay a lot more to get a better knight.)  I'm an amateur woodworker, and perhaps that makes me overly critical. But I notice unsanded tool marks, shavings, rag marks, pinpoint stains and other clues that these were made in a hurry.  However, I still like them.  They're the best set I have.
