At the heart of the Gothic Chessmen is our original Ebony Collector Chessmen, a heirloom quality Chess set that has been crafted to replicate the exquisite design and proportions of the original Staunton pattern Chessmen. The distinctive feature of this set is our Knight design, which is modeled after the noble steeds from the Greek Parthenon (Elgin Marbles) and are unsurpassed in beauty and craftsmanship. Please note that the Kingside Rooks and Knights are not stamped on their summits.

As you've undoubtedly noticed while looking at the picture to the left, Gothic Chess requires a 10 square x 8 square Chessboard and features 2 unusual pieces - The Archbishop and Chancellor.
 
As with all House of Staunton Chessmen, they exemplify the perfect combination of beauty and functionality. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is UNMATCHED by any set of Chessmen in its price range. Nothing even comes close!

These full Tournament-sized Chessmen feature a 4.0" King with a 1.875” diameter base. On the underside of the Kings is a luxurious English-made leather base pad to protect the Chessboard from scratching during the battle. Each set of Chessmen includes 42 Pieces, including 10 Pawns, an ArchBishop, A Chancellor and 2 Queens.
