Product Description

If you're looking for an affordable, yet very attractive set of  plastic Chessmen, look no further than our Competition Series Plastic Chessmen. These Chessmen are ideal for schools, chess clubs, and tournament play as they EXCEED all US Chess Federation Tournament Requirements. The Competition Series Plastic were designed specifically to offer an attractive set of Chessmen that can withstand the rigors of serious play. These are Staunton Pattern Chessmen that are visually stunning, from the highly detailed Knight to the Statuesque Queen profile. You no longer have to play with an average looking set of Chessmen.

The Competition Series Plastic Chess Pieces - 3.75" King Height

This chess set looks good and costs little! There are countless chess sets available out there in this set's price range. This set stands out.

I measure all of my chess sets. The manufacturing variances from House of Staunton for plastic chess sets are generally quite consistent for shape (less than 5% difference in dimensions) and consistent enough for weight (less than 14% difference). If you believe those variations are poor, I encourage you to start measuring things for yourself and comparing those results with published specifications. It will be enlightening. Here are my measurements for this chess set (tolerances +/- .25mm and +/- .5 grams):

    -King Base Diameter: 38mm
-King Height (not including basepad): 97.5mm
-Weight of Whole Set (including extra queens, if applicable): 442g
-Does the Set Include Extra Queens?: Yes
-Board Square Size for King Base 75% to 80% of Square: 1-7/8in (2in will pass as good)
-USCF Tournament Suitable: Borderline. I would say yes
