The chessmen are designed to take abuse while retaining an elegance and aesthetic beauty that has not previously been seen in a playing chess set at any price. There are no fragile details subject to breakage, such as collars, ball finials and Queen’s crenellations normally found in conventional Staunton chessmen. These Chessmen look great and play even better! The Empire Series Chessmen features a majestic 4.5" King with a 1.875" diameter base and weighs an incredible 87 ounces (not including additional Queens). The set is supplied with four Queens in two distinct styles. This adds interest to the presentation and allows the promoted Queen to be differentiated from the original. It also comes with gold embossed leather
pads on both Kings, a personalized Certificate of Authenticity and an
original manufacturer's label indicating the production number is affixed
to the underside of each box. The
chessmen are housed in a premium Red Burlwood box with brass quadrant
hinges and a full mortise lock and key. The interior of the box is divided
and lined in billiard cloth. The box may be upgraded to a fitted Briefcase
