Dear House of Staunton Newsletter Subscriber,
It is with great sorrow that we announce the Tenth Day of Chessmas:
The Mammoth Ivory Chessmen Are Going Extinct. Crafted from 40,000 year
old Mammoth Ivory, The House of Staunton Mammoth Ivory Collector Chessmen are being
discontinued and will be retired once our current inventory has been exhausted.
Why are we discontinuing the Mammoth Ivory Chessmen? The simple answer is that
the cost of raw Mammoth Ivory has increased to the point where it is simply not
practical to use in the manufacturing of Chessmen. If we were to continue
producing these Chessmen, their price would have to increase by more than 50% to
offset the increase in material costs. The Chessmen that we are selling
today for $7,000 would sell for $10,500 next year!
Rather than raise the price, we are simply going to sell of
our remaining Chess sets at their current price. If you've EVER
considered the Mammoth Ivory Collector Chessmen, this is your last (and only)
chance to own the finest Staunton Pattern Chessmen EVER PRODUCED. These sets are being sold on a first
come, first serve basis and with the holidays upon us these sets won't last
long!
Happy Holidays from the House of Staunton!
Frank A. Camaratta, Jr.
ps. We are discontinuing both the Ivory Collector and the Ivory/Ebony
Collector Chessmen.
