Solid and Safe Against the Wild Indians - Play the Fianchetto - Nicholas Pert
    Catalog Code: WIN0447CB

The King’s Indian and Grunfeld are notoriously tricky and theoretical openings. The Fianchetto variation avoids the main lines which Black players enjoy, and goes for a small but safe edge. Many people fear playing against the King’s Indian because of Black’s ability to attack the White King, but in the Fianchetto variation it is very hard for Black to generate any attacking chances, instead play is often positional, with White having slightly more space for his or her pieces. In this DVD, the author has gone a long way to finding the best lines for White to gain an advantage against Black’s various responses.

WINNING WITH THE RUY LOPEZ - Victor Bologan - VOLUME 1
    Berlin Wall and others
    Catalog Code: WIN0344CB

Really, among the open games the only opening with which White can really fight for an advantage in the long term is the Ruy Lopez. But in order to make this serious effort, he has buckle down and learn a whole series of sub-variations. That is what the professionals do, including of course Viktor Bologan, who now reveals the secrets of his own grandmaster repertoire. In the first part the top Moldovan player deals with systems in which Black avoids the main continuation 3...a6 on his third move. These include exotic lines such as 3...Nd4, 3...Nge7, 3...g6 and 3...Bc5, which should however not be under-estimated. In 3...f5 (the Schliemann Defence) he examines a system which has even found its way into the repertoire of many a top player. But the most important variation starts with 3...Nf6 and in its main move order leads to the Berlin Wall. Nowadays, anyone who plays the Ruy Lopez must know above all what he is going to play against this modern defence. Video running time: 4 hrs 42 min. System requirements: Pentium-Processor at 300 Mhz or higher, 64 MB RAM, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, DVD drive, mouse, soundcard Return Information for Software & DVDs Computer Software and DVDs can only be returned or exchanged if the product is in its original, sealed packaging and has not been installed or used in any way. The 4... Nf6 Caro-Kann - Nigel Davies
    Catalog Code: WIN0497CB

The dynamic 4...Nf6 line of the Caro-Kann has been unfashionable in recent years whilst the theory on 4...Bf5 and 4...Nd7 now extends well into the middle game. 4…Nf6 therefore offers a golden opportunity for Caro-Kann players to throw their opponents on their own resources – and here even top Grandmasters can go wrong. On this DVD Nigel Davies examines both the Bronstein-Larsen (5.Nxf6+ gxf6) and the Tartakower (5.Nxf6+ exf6) systems.

Typical Mistakes by 1600-1900 Players - Nicholas Pert
    Catalog Code: WIN0459CB

As the National Head Coach for the English Chess Federation I train many improving players, and see some typical mistakes that repeat themselves. In this DVD I have taken a large collection of games played by players, predominantly in the rating range 1600-1900, and I have looked for typical mistakes. Each theme has several examples to demonstrate typical mistakes, and there are various test throughout the DVD so that the viewer can try and find the best move in certain positions. This should be a great tool for players to use in order to improve their middlegame and endgame play. It will hopefully also highlight any areas that you need to work on in order to improve quickly. Catalog Code: WIN0457CB

The Schliemann (or Jaenisch) Gambit, 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 f5, languished in semi-obscurity before top GM Teimour Radjabov revolutionised the opening with new ideas, defending his analysis with excellent results in Linares and elsewhere against the world’s best players. Black plays actively and aggressively from move 3, frequently sacrificing a pawn for open lines, kingside activity and the bishop pair. In this DVD Sam Collins provides a complete and detailed repertoire for Black. Numerous novelties and improvements are suggested, with the conclusion that White has no clear route to an opening advantage. Refresh your repertoire and avoid the Spanish Torture with 3…f5!
