The longest reigning champion in world chess history, 27 years. Superman!

Lasker held the title from 1894 into 1921. He became or remained world chess champion in matches with Steinitz, Marshall, Tarrasch, Schlechter, and Janowski.

During his world championship reign he took eight first, including one tie, out of ten events. His endgame skill was legendary and his practical ability would have been rated about 2800.

GM Andrew Soltis said Lasker's openings, and their preparation, were "ahead of time. As a chess psychologist World Champion Alexander Alekhine later said he learned what he needed to know from Lasker!

This monograph examines Lasker's wins in his early years plus a number of simultaneous and exhibition games taken from the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

Bob Long is the publisher at Thinikers' Press, Inc.creating books on chess et al since 1973. His latest work is: 'The Critical Secret for Success.' He lives in Davenport, Iowa with his dog Laska.

M. Tal, 8th world chess champion: "The greatest champion ever was Emanuel Lasker, of course. He was an amazing tactician, who could win what seemed like completely hopeless games."
