Book DescriptionWhile many books on chess are either for the novice or the advanced student, A Primer of Chess is invaluable for its clear instruction at various levels of the game. The book is divided into 3 sections.

* Part 1 - Discusses the object of the game, the men and their moves, elementary openings and rules and ethics.

* Part 2 - Considers endings, the middle game and advanced openings.

* Part 3 - Analyzes World Champion Capablanca's best games against the world champions during a 13-year period, showing the reader intricate moves and sophisticated play.

Jose Raoul Capablanca (1888-1942) was the World Chess Champion from 1921-1927. He is considered by many to be the finest natural player of all time - he lost only one game between 1914 and 1924. A member of the Chess Hall of Fame, he is honored by an annual tournament held in his name in Havana, Cuba, his home country.
