Modern Chess Preparation

Chess Informant (Sahovski Informator) is a publishing company based in Belgrade, that periodically produces the book of the same name, as well as the Encyclopaedia of Chess Openings, Encyclopaedia of Chess Endings, Opening Monographs, other print publications, and software (including electronic editions of most print publications).

This book contains 60 games in Descriptive Notation annotated by Liepnieks and other Latvian masters including Edmars Mednis, Paul Tautvaisas and John Tums based on the notes by Tal. It also includes Tal's Chess Quiz based on 10 of Tal's games. (WARNING: This quiz is too difficult. You will not be able to solve the problems.)

Originally published as "Oxford Encyclopedia of Chess Games: Volume 1: 1485-1866". Volume 2 was never published, so the title has been shortened to "Oxford Encyclopedia of Chess Games". This encyclopedia set out to publish all the important games of chess which have been played since the modern laws came into force in the late 1400s.

This is a reprint of the original third book, with all of the games converted into Algebraic Figurine PGN Notation with diagrams in the back. Alekhine died in 1946, so this third volume was edited by International Master and British Chess Champion Conel Hugh O'Donel Alexander, based in part on the notes left by Alekhine to some of the games.

Chess Informant 104 contains 299 annotated games and 317 variations. Period covered: September 1st, 2008 and December 31st, 2008
