The new House of Staunton full tournament-size, weighted and padded, Professional
Series chessmen feature a full 3.75" King with a 1.75" diameter base. These
chessmen, a modified Jaques Hartston design from the mid-1890s, were used
on all boards in the 2000 US Open Chess Championships in Saint Paul MN.
This set features exaggerated broad bases with finely turned detail normally
only found in much more expensive House of Staunton chess sets. It is offered
to fill the gap between out Players Series chessmen and Marshall design.
The chessmen are cushioned in billiard cloth and come housed in a
leatherette case with The House of Staunton logo printed in
gold on the lid. Available in natural and ebonized boxwood, natural and
black or red lacquer, or boxwood and rosewood.
