Calvert - Imitation Ivory
The House of Staunton is proud to introduce its new line of Pre-Staunton Recreations. Our first two offerings are the Northern Upright and the St. George patterns. You can see the originals in our Chess Museum. Both of these new sets are offered in Bud Rosewood and Boxwood. The Northern Upright set is somewhat smaller and is unweighted as was the original. The St. George is heftier and is weighted.
The chessmen are housed in our fine mahogany-stained box, lined in green billiard cloth and divided, with solid brass quadrant hinges, lock and key.Bud Rosewood is a striking, Red-burgundy-colored, light-grained, exotic wood which is more expensive than ebony. These sets are in limited production. Each set is delivered with its original manufacturer's label and individual production number.

These sets are a unique, beautiful, and relatively inexpensive way to own a piece of chess history.
