An entirely new design concept in Staunton Pattern chessmen, The Parthenon Series Chessmen by the House of Staunton are our newest Premium chessmen offering. These unique tournament size chessmen weigh an impressive 67 ounces, are available in a 4 3/8" King with a base diameter of 2" and are offered in Boxwood and either Bud Rosewood or Ebony. The chessmen are cushioned with fine billiard cloth and each King has a gold-embossed leather base pad. The standard configuration includes four Queens and a fine, lockable mahogany-stained box, divided and lined in fine billiard cloth, with brass quadrant hinges, lock and key. Bud Rosewood is a Red burgundy-colored exotic wood that is tight-grained, resilient, and more expensive than ebony. The set can be purchased with an optional fitted red burlwood case, if so desired. This limited production set comes with a manufacturer's label bearing its unique production number, along with a certificate of authenticity.
