The House of Staunton®
now offers our newest chessmen Series. The elegant Centurion Series Boxwood and Bud Rosewood chessmen feature a 4" King with a 1-7/8" diameter base. The pieces have our patented beveled bases and set ships standard with four Queens.
The chess men weigh 58 ounces, excluding the extra pair of Queens.
The chessmen are housed in a lined blue
velvet fitted box with removable trays. The set is fashioned after our exquisite, Collector
Series Imperial chessmen and is produced to a very high
quality standard. The set does not come in an expensive mahogany box and there
are no markings for the Kingside Knights and Rooks. It is designed to compete
with the Indian counterfeit copies of our copyrighted Collector
Series chessmen, but at a more favorable price and produced to
a much higher quality benchmark than the Indian-made knock-offs. The Centurion
Series is a fine alternative for those customers who want a high
quality chess set, crafted from a very exoric wood, Bud Rosewood, at a reasonable
price. The workmanship and finish on the Centurion
Series chessmen set a new standard for
chess pieces in this price category. Similar, but far lower quality chessmen
have been offered on some sites for as much as $1295!
